Directions
Prep all you ingredients ahead of time. This will help to make things go faster and to make sure you have everything you need. In a large clean bowl add the lukewarm water and the oil.
Mix in the powdered milk, sugar and salt. Mix till the powdered milk and sugar is desolved. Add in 2 cups or 480 ml of flour to the liquid. Stir till smooth.
Add in another cup or 240 ml of flour, stir again till smooth. Add in the instant yeast and mix till the yeast is well blended in. Allow the mixture to sit for 5 minutes.
Add in another cup or 240 ml of flour and mix. Place some more flour onto a flat surface and pour out the dough. The dough should still be wet. Add a little more flour on top.
Start to knead the dough. If it sticks to the counter use a scraper to remove it. Keep adding a little flour as needed. Knead for 10 - 15 minutes or til smooth and elastic. Pour a teaspoon of oil into a bowl. Place kneaded dough into the bowl and turn over a few time, to coat all sides of the dough Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for about 1 hour or till double in size.
In the meantime, saute the ground chorizo till cooked. Pour out onto a plate lined with papertowel to absorb some of the oil. Allow to cool in the fridge till needed.
Grate your cheese also and remove plastic wrap from the risen dough.
Cut dough in half and set one half aside. Using your fingers, stretch the dough to a 13 x 8 rectangle.
Pour out half the chorizo onto the dough and press down a little. Add in 1 cup of the grated cheese. Roll the dough like a cinnamon bun.
Pinch the dough closed and pinch the sides to close the dough. Place the dough seam side down. and push together to about the same size as the large loaf pan.
Take a sharp knife and cut the dough in half - length ways. Take the two pieces and twist/braid them together.
Squeeze the dough together to fit into the loaf pan. Now do the same with the second piece of dough.
Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for about 1 hour or till double. Place the rest of the cheese on top and bake in a preheated 375 degree over for 30 - 35 minutes. Remove from pan and allow to cool on a wire rack. Bread Recipes you may like. |
