Apple Tart Bread Recipe

Fall has come around again, the leaves are turning color and the apples are starting to fall from the trees. But, what to do with all those apple other than making apple sauce and apple pies . Well, I have a wonderful recipe that you can use those apples in. It’s an Apple Tart Bread, that’s very quick and easy to make. This heavy dense dessert style bread, filled with sweet, juicy, sliced apples would be wonderful for Thanksgiving or Halloween dinner. I think this Apple Tart Bread could even give Apple Pie a run for it’s money and even beat it as a family favorite. It’s that good!

Hot or cold this bread is perfect any time. My wife came home very late from a Celine Dion concert with some of her co-workers. She said she was famished from a long day and not having a chance to eat. When she walked into the house she could smell that wonderful aroma of baked apples. Sitting on the stove was this delicious Apple Tart Bread. She took a small piece and as soon as it touched her taste buds she was already cutting another larger piece to eat lol. Add a hot cup of coffee or cocoa and you have a treat, that is to die for.

Very unique idea! Is it more like a bread than a cake? Sometimes some of those quick bread types are more like cake to me.

It’s beautiful! Are you sure it’s not a cake!

    Chuck!
You did it again! This pie/cake/bread…whatever you call it… looks absolutely scrumptious! Can you send me a warm piece with ice cream, or did your wife eat it all? LOL

Cake, bread who cares? It looks so beautiful & delicious! I’m sad…while I love tart apples I’m not fond of the texture of them in baked goods. I usually eat around ‘em.

Chuck, I’ve missed so many of your recipe switching from wordpress.com to wordpress.org, but I am finally done. Gotta read all your October posts:) This tart looks so good. And so easy to make too. I’ve bookmarked the recipe! Thank you!

What a great recipe. :) Thank you. I was wondering..I do not have bread flour on hand at the moment..could I give this a try with all purpose flour or would that make it too dense?

    Hi Doreen,

Thanks for visiting my blog. Yes, all-purpose flour would be fine for this recipe. This Apple tarts is so good, just be sure to slice the apples very thinly.

If the aroma of this freshly baked Apple Tart Bread smelled half as good as it looks, I would be in heaven!

I think this Apple Tart Bread could even give Apple Pie a run for it’s money and even beat it as a family favorite. It’s that good! – well I am a big fan of apple pie and with such an endorsement of this bread by you, how can I not try it?

I made this tart/cake/bread Sunday with the last of the apples from my MIL’s tree, not granny smith, but nicely tart. While preparing, I was saying “no, way, this recipe is going to work out.” I followed the directions exactly and WOW, everyone at work this morning is blown away! I never believed all those apples would fit into the tart pan (mine mounded a little higher than the picture). I also refrigerated it over night as I glazed it with some left over cream cream frosting from some Halloween cupcakes – thinned out with lemon juice – so it’s a little “custardy” in texture.

I can see how this would replace apple pie at the holidays. Anyway, sorry to go on and on, FANTASTIC recipe!!! Great site too.

It was delicious, thanks for the recipe. I baked the tart 5 minutes longer. Of course, we couldn’t wait for it to cool completely…
I posted photo of one slice of it on my blog.

OH-MY-GOODNESS!!!! Chuck, very soon you and I are going to need to come to some sort of understanding where you don’t post stuff that demand I go to the kitchen and bake!!

I made the tart/bread this afternoon with the indiviual pans like I told you and I put the remaining mixture into a loaf pan. I don’t know what else to say, words fail me… I love it! I love it! I love it! I can’t wait to share it with some friends tomorrow.

Honestly, you make a little baking pro out of me. Thank you so very much for this recipe. You’re my baking guru :)

How do you get the tart out of the tart pan? It looks so gorgeous without the pan walls around it. Mine is baking as I write this. Can’t wait to try it.
