thx for the detailed instructions on your site.

i baked your recipe and found 2 things.

1. the dough was too wet. i had to keep on adding flour. it could be i made a mistake somewhere.

2. the bread has a slight beery taste. funny, as i used 1/2 teaspoon instead of 1 teaspoon on baking day. i remember i kneaded the salt in so it was pretty well distributed.

anyway, thx for sharing this simple pumpernickel recipe.

mamamia! lobster dip with homemade pumpernickel bread! you’ve got to come to my house and make those for me, please!
now, why is caramel coloring hard to find? is it always only available to commercial bakeries?

While this pumpernickel looks divine, the lobster artichoke dip sends this over the top. It looks so creamy and tempting—definitely giving this recipe a try. Glad you shared!

Oh my gosh. I just found your blog and I think it’s simply wonderful! I was just thinking of making pumpernickel bread because I was craving a good, dark, dense bread. Sadly for the dip, however, any lobster I have won’t ever last long enough to get into a dip recipe!

I’ll tell ya, I’m kicking myself. I’ve been too busy to read my feeds lately, and it’s been way too long since I’ve been to your site!! (I’m not even going to tell you how long it’s been, LOL!)

But, today I decided I was in the mood to read and it must have been fate – because pumpernickel is, without a doubt, my most favorite bread!! Lucky me to come across your recipe.

Then, I did my “back-reading” and I’ve bookmarked 5 other recipes you’ve posted since my last visit. The hardest part will be deciding which to make first.
