Pizza Dough

Pesto & 3 cheese Pizza

I think if you asked 10 people what their top 5 favorite foods are. 8 out of the 10 would say Pizza is among the top 5. With over 350 slices of pizza being eaten every second and with the average American eating about 46 slices per year. It just shows the popularity of this tasty comfort food. Most people buy their pizza from the many Pizza joints that line our streets. They have no idea how easy pizza dough is to make and that it tastes much better than many of the Pizza chains out there. Once the pizza dough is made it only takes minutes to prepare.

This pizza dough is a favorite of mine. I use semolina in this recipe which helps to create the most delicious crust. It is a two day process but doesn’t take long each day. You can freeze the dough and take it out as you need it. Just throw it into the refrigerator the day before you want to have pizza. The filling is a 3 cheese with pesto. You could use any combination of cheese’s that you would like. For me, I love the flavors and texture of the ricotta, parmesan and mozzarella cheese and the wonderful aroma of pesto. Of course, you could also use a fresh tomato sauce, that would be delicious also. Just the other day my sister told me about a pizza she had that had ginger on it she said it was amazing. Maybe this is something I should try next time!

Chuck, this is a great recipe! I usually prefer a thin crust pizza and was wondering if rolling this dough thinner would work just as fine. I am assuming it would. I am currently dieting (no flour, sugar and etc):)) so I am saving the recipe for future! I can’t wait to try those sweet rolls you made, too.

Farida, it’s good to hear from you. Yes, you can make a thin crust. just as you said roll it out thin. It’s a wonderful recipe! Thank you for dropping by.

Farida I’m Chuck’s sister and I help my brother with producing this blog, because of that I have the pleasure of eating all the wonderful breads he makes each week.

So last week when we made this pizza I was blown away with the crust, see, I’m a thin crust lover myself. I find thick crust too doughy, but this one tasted so good I think you’d be missing out on all that flavor if you made it too thin. Trust me, give it a try it’s amazing!

I generally use active dried yeast for my pizza dough. What is the quantity that u wud suggest for ur recipe? I don’t get instant yeast here. Is it better that the dried one?

This pizza looks positively whimsical! Are you blessed with a fabulously lit kitchen or do you have some strategic lighting set-up off camera ;)
