Roasted Garlic Croutons

Well, another holiday (Easter) has passed us by. I don’t know about you but, the days just seem to be flying by. As I get older time is going by faster and faster and there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. Our family had our regular holiday dinner get together and my sister announced that she is pregnant (HOORAY) …this is going to be their first child. So, this occasion was a little special for all of us. After all it was about time, they have been married for 10 years, but they wanted to make sure they were ready financially and mature enough to take on the responsibility of having a baby. I think they did it right. Congratulations Sis!

Roasted Garlic Croutons

Getting back to the holiday dinner, well, what can I say … another delicious meal. It’s funny the men do all the cooking, my dad and brother in-law are both great cooks. I think the guys are better cooks then the girls … shhh don’t tell that I told you. They may get mad, but it’s true. I made these crispy Roasted Garlic Olive Oil soaked croutons with Parmesan cheese. I found the inspiration from Warda at one of my favorite food blogs ” 64 sq ft Kitchen ” Warda had made the most delicious Roasted Garlic Oil and the photos were gorgeous too, I just had to make it.

Roasted Garlic Croutons with Tapenade and Caviar Toppings

At first I made the croutons with my favorite white bread recipe (Country White Bread). Chalk full of flavor in itself, with the buttermilk and eggs. But, sadly the bread had too much flavor for the Roasted Garlic Oil all ready. I ran to Safeway and purchased a couple of those tasteless unsliced loaves of plain soft white bread. I made my large croutons and soaked them in the roasted garlic oil and WOW!!! they were amazing. The flavor from the warm Roasted Garlic Oil and Parmesan cheese was spectacular, the oil had soaked in about a 1/4 of the way into the bread and the crispy outside, with a soft texture in the middle, made these croutons something special. This has to be the best way to add some flare and sophistication to the traditional garlic bread. They make a perfect appetizer, you can kick it up a notch and add a little Olive Tapenade, or top them with a little Caviar for something really unique. So good!

How beautiful, I love that first photo – well all of them really, and the little herbs on the croutons are very eye-catching!
I’m not a caviar eater but just pass me the plate of the olive ones!

I think I would starve if the men were in charge of cooking in my family!! :) Actually, my husband is a great cook, but specialized in breakfast and bbq. My dad on the other hand (as well as my brother and bils) – let’s just say we’d probably end up ordering pizza!

These croutons look and sound great!

Hi there, I just found your site through Tastespotting and I love what I see, but I wanted to point out that the links for the step-by-step as well as the recipe card seem to direct to a recipe for corn bread with quail eggs. Glitch?

    Nice photos, anyway!

Oh, my! These croutons look so delicious. I usually eat croutons out of bag – they never get to go in salads or soups in our family:) I like to snack on them. Chuck, your pictures are mouthwatering!
