Maple Seeded Bread

Maple Seeded Bread

This Maple Seeded bread is high in fiber and absolutely delicious!

My sister told me about a seeded bread she had a few years ago while on a trip to Cathedral Lake Lodge. She was involved in a photography workshop for a weekend high in the mountains in beautiful British Columbia. She said, the bread was made with whole wheat and filled with seeds, grains and a hint of maple; it was a heavy bread and perfect for a high energy day of hiking while being loaded down with camera gear.

Her description of the bread sounded scrumptious. So, I thought I would try to recreate a Maple Seeded bread, like the one my sister had mentioned. I think this bread accomplishes that goal. It has a well-rounded taste with loads of flavor and interesting textures, an earthy bread covered in seeds, with a subtle flavor of maple syrup to give it a little sweetness.

I used a dark syrup for this recipe, which I think was a good choice. The color of the maple syrup reveals the flavor – the lighter the color the more delicate the taste. The darker the color the more intense the maple flavor becomes. My sister said this bread reminded her of the amazing experience she had at Cathedral Lake Lodge a few years ago. I hope you will give this bread a try.

This looks delicious! I bet is rises much better than a gluten free version, but I’ll give it a try since your pictures here are such an inspiration! Beautiful!
